Wedding Dresses in Colchester

Looking for wedding dresses in Colchester? We’re a private bridal boutique with over 250 wedding dresses to try, from designers including Justin Alexander, Sincerity, Mori Lee, Richard Designs, British Bridal, Ronald Joyce, Romantica of Devon, Sweetheart Gowns, Veni Infantino, Bianco Evento and our own Serenity Exclusive label. Sizes run from UK 2 to 34 across the boutique and Rock Your Curves next door, and gowns run from £400 to £4,000.

Book a 90-minute one-to-one appointment, bring a handful of your closest friends, and take your time. We recommend booking several months ahead of your wedding so there is room for ordering and alterations. Prefer to talk first? Call us or get in touch here, or read the bridal FAQ. Brides tell us how it feels better than we can: Emily wrote “I was so nervous about dress shopping, but she made me feel so at ease.” You can read more on our reviews page.

Why we came home from Harrogate talking about Veni Infantino

We went to the bridal show at Harrogate this year to see what the designers are doing. Veni Infantino had the best dresses there, and honestly it was not close. That is why a new Veni collection is coming to our bridal rail. Ask when you book. If it has arrived, it will be the first thing we show you. See what's in the collection on our Veni Infantino page, from 3D florals to bows down a train.

Who we stock

Serenity Exclusive, Justin Alexander, Sincerity, Mori Lee, Richard Designs, British Bridal, Ronald Joyce, Romantica of Devon, Sweetheart Gowns and Veni Infantino each have a page of their own. The last of our Bianco Evento gowns have their own page too. Serenity Exclusive is our own label and the biggest collection in the shop. There are hundreds of dresses here, and more in our Rock Your Curves studio. You will not get through them all, and you should not try. That is what your stylist is for. Lisa Spurgeon watched her daughter pick three dresses, and watched Yelina come back with four more, one of them a wild card nobody had asked for. The wild card is the one her daughter said yes to.

If you are nervous, you are in very good company

Nervous is the word we hear most. Yours will arrive too, and they do not tend to last. Kaleigh Hall came in so nervous she said so twice, and told Yelina afterwards that she had laughed and smiled the whole way through instead. Your appointment runs ninety minutes and it is private. Your stylist sits down with you before a single dress comes off the rail, because that conversation is what makes the rest of it work.

Walk in or book?

A booking fee holds a private ninety-minute slot with your own stylist, which is the surest way to have the time set aside for you. Walk-ins are welcome too, free of charge but subject to availability, if you would rather look round first. Hollie “didn’t have an appointment as I thought I was just going to have a look around”, and found her dress. Stephanie came back later the same day to try her dress on again, and thanked us for being so accommodating about it. More on the fee in is there a booking fee for bridal appointments?

Not sure what style you want?

You don’t need a picture in your head before you book. Karen “had no idea on the style of dress I wanted and ended up with the total opposite of what I had started to look at”. Samantha went in not knowing what she wanted and “walked out making a deposit on my dream dress”. Tell your stylist what you like and don’t like, and she’ll bring a mix to the mirror. Our FAQ covers what if I don’t know what wedding dress I want.

Every size, and where the plus-size rail actually lives

Rock Your Curves opened next door in 2021. Not a rail tucked somewhere apologetic: a whole boutique built around you. Anna Davies arrived expecting to dread the changing room and told us afterwards that her fear of trying on dresses as a plus-size bride simply vanished, and that the dress she said yes to was nothing like the one she had pictured. That last part happens constantly. On alterations, the same honesty as everywhere else on this site. There is no seamstress in house. Many of our brides travel a long way to shop with us, so alterations are best done by a seamstress local to your own home, for convenience. Allow around eight weeks.

Wedding dresses for brides across Essex, Suffolk and beyond

Plenty of our brides come from further than Colchester. Samantha came from Clacton-on-Sea, Helen from Tiptree, Nicola from Southend, and Francesca from Woodbridge, who wrote “I came with my sister and mum and we had the most special and wonderful experience.” Nicola was dress shopping for the first time and “very nervous”, and Helen was nervous about “how they would look”.
